What's Yukotopia?

ĦHistory
Deadheads Land Yukotopia was originally started as a bar & restaurant, by the Deadheads Yuko and her family when they came back from San Francisco in 1991. At the opening party of Deadheads Land Yukotopia, Sandy Rothman (from the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band), a very good friend of the owner Yuko, and other bands have played and amused many Japanese Deadheads. Because of their love for music, a small stage was placed inside of the restaurant, and bands started to play on the weekends. In 1992, Roku, a current Manager of Deadheads Land Yukotopia, joined the family, and the restaurant changed into the small music club it is today.

Since then, Deadheads Land Yukotopia has been recognized as one of the greatest venues in the genres of Jam, Deadheads, and Psychedelic rock in Japan. The most famous Deadhead bands, Warlocks, Big Frog, Meltone, Majestic Circus and other famous Jam bands are listed in Deadheads Land Yukotopia's list of regular bands. Many Psychedelic bands play regularly at Deadheads Land Yukotopia, like Marble Sheep (from Captain Trip Records), Mandog, Pineapple Tom and more, by the influence of Manager Roku's Pyschedelic band, Ha-Za-Ma. Deadheads Land Yukotopia believes that music has only one genre, and opens its doors to all kinds of bands, such as Punk Rock, Trance Music, Improvisation, and many more. Many foreign bands that have come and played as a Japan tour are another unique characteristic of Deadheads Land Yukotopia also.(2005.11.24)
